About
After the Night was born out of lived experience.
That experience led — and continues to lead — to healing, and to a growing conviction that the Church must be better equipped to respond to domestic abuse in ways that glorify Jesus.
“I am deeply grateful to the Table Missionary Society for housing this mission, to the Advisory Team helping make this movement possible within the Church in Victoria, to the donors and partners supporting this work financially, and to the churches in Victoria that are ready to stand against fear, respond compassionately to those affected, and help change the narrative and intergenerational cycle of abuse both within and outside the Church.
My background is in City Planning, and God is now putting those skills to use in bringing together churches and parachurch ministries to respond collaboratively.
I am also a mum to pre-teen and teen children who are passionate supporters of After the Night and have their own stories of courage and healing.
Along the journey, my children and I experienced both deep pain and deep care. We experienced abuse and confusion within the home, but we also experienced the compassionate response of people who chose to listen, believe, pray, protect, and walk faithfully alongside us.
If you have not yet heard my testimony, there will be opportunities to hear it at future events — keep an eye on the Events page. You are also welcome to invite After the Night to your church or parachurch ministry through the Contact page.”
— Founder & Missional Leader, After the Night
Through that experience, a vision began to grow:
that the Church can become a place of refuge, truth, wisdom, and compassionate presence for those impacted by abuse.
At the same time, it became clear how many churches genuinely want to help, yet often feel unsure how to respond safely and wisely.
After the Night exists to help bridge that gap.
Today, we work with churches and community partners to help create safer, more informed responses through:
- Trauma-informed training and education
- Faith-sensitive support pathways
- Proactive youth and premarital education
- Collaborative partnerships and referral networks
- Ongoing prayer and compassionate presence
Our heart is to help the Church become more prepared, more confident, and more aligned with the heart of Jesus — so that no one has to suffer in silence, and those walking through darkness encounter truth, safety, dignity, and hope.
Our Mission
After the Night exists so that those silenced, harmed, or diminished through domestic abuse may come to know again — as a lived reality — that they are deeply and irrevocably beloved by God, who sees and knows it all.
Held within the love of Christ, it creates safe spaces for those impacted by abuse, and walks with churches as they learn to recognise harm and respond with wisdom, humility, and compassion.
Our Vision
We envision a church shaped by the heart of Jesus, inviting people to rediscover their belovedness, gently dismantling harmful ways of thinking, and walking with those affected by domestic abuse toward dignity, truth, and compassionate presence.
Our Team
After the Night is currently operating under the charitable covering of Table Missionary Society while we pilot and grow.
There are currently 12 advisory team members through 5 churches.
